South African Airways Expands Johannesburg-Harare Service with Increased Flight Frequencies
SOUTH African Airways (SAA) has announced an increase in flight frequencies on the popular Johannesburg-Harare route, raising the number of weekly flights from 10 to 12 effective 5 November 2024.
This strategic move is in response to the growing demand from travellers between the two bustling cities.
With the new schedule, SAA will offer two additional flights from Harare to Johannesburg, enhancing connectivity for passengers.
The flight SA25 will depart Harare at 07:20, arriving in Johannesburg at 09:00 weekly on Monday to Friday. While a second flight number SA23 will depart Harare at 12:25, arriving in Johannesburg at 14:05 on a Daily bases.
Flight SA24 is set to depart Johannesburg at 10:00hrs daily to Harare arriving at 11:35 while another flight will depart Johannesburg at 20:10, arriving in Harare at 21:45 every Sunday to Thursday.
SAA has been a dominant player in the Johannesburg-Harare route for over two decades, consistently providing reliable service to both business and leisure travellers.
Ms Julia Rewayi, SAA Country Manager, said the new schedules will start on November 5.
“Increasing our flight frequency on the Johannesburg-Harare route is a testament to our commitment to meeting the evolving needs of our customers. The demand is driven by the growing ties between South Africa and Zimbabwe, and we are excited to facilitate this connectivity, which is crucial for business and tourism,” she said.
This increase in flights aligns with SAA’s densification strategy, aimed at bolstering operations in the African region—an area identified as pivotal for the airline’s growth. The rising demand for flights is attributed to several factors, including the movement of Zimbabwean expatriates, a surge in tourism, and heightened trade relations between South Africa and Zimbabwe. As the political climate in Zimbabwe stabilizes, further growth in travel and trade is anticipated.
Ms Rewayi added that, SAA remains committed to providing reliable and convenient travel options for its customers, ensuring that the airline meets the evolving needs of the region.
