
PREPARATIONS WELL UNDERWAY FOR COP15 CONFERENCE IN VICTORIA FALLS
The world’s gaze turns to Zimbabwe’s premier tourism city as Victoria Falls prepares to host the 15th Meeting of the Conference of Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands (COP15), set for July 23 to 31, 2025. Framed by the awe-inspiring beauty of one of the world’s natural wonders, this global summit marks a milestone in environmental diplomacy and positions Victoria Falls as a rising hub for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, seamlessly blending international dialogue with warm Zimbabwean hospitality and breathtaking scenery.
Preparations are well underway with the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Barbara Rwodzi, joining her counterpart, the Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, Hon. Evelyn Ndhlovu, in assessing progress on the ground. Their combined presence reflects a strong whole-of-government approach and shared commitment to ensuring the successful hosting of this prestigious event, while advancing Zimbabwe’s twin goals of environmental stewardship and tourism growth.
The conference, themed “Protecting Wetlands for our Common Future,” will bring together 172 Contracting Parties to strengthen international commitments for wetland conservation. Against the iconic backdrop of Victoria Falls, COP15 will spotlight the value of wetlands and create new avenues for collaborative conservation to protect and restore the world’s freshwater resources and habitats.
As delegates from across the globe converge on Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe is ready to shine, demonstrating its leadership in sustainable development and offering the unforgettable charm of a destination that is truly a gem.
