GREEN VISION TRUST HONORED FOR EMPOWERING COMMUNITIES AND WILDLIFE PROTECTION

Harare-based Green Vision Trust, a dedicated nature conservation organization at the forefront of Zimbabwe’s environmental efforts, was recently recognized for its profound community empowerment and social impact. The Trust was bestowed with the prestigious 2025 CADAV National Philanthropic Award on Excellence in Community Empowerment and Social Impact at a ceremony held at the Rainbow Hotel in Bulawayo.

Green Vision Trust’s multifaceted approach tackles critical contemporary environmental challenges both within Zimbabwe and beyond its borders. Their core activities encompass providing vital anti-poaching services and intelligence gathering, alongside a strong commitment to environmental education aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world. The organization actively advocates for a cleaner environment and raises crucial awareness about climate change and its far-reaching effects.

In a heartfelt message acknowledging the award, Green Vision Trust paid tribute to the “Wildlife soldiers” who form the backbone of their impactful work. “To our Wildlife soldiers, we thank you so much for making us visible,” the organization stated. “It’s not our greatness that made us known but your Excellence in the wildlife industry; you are making us proud and making us known.” This recognition underscores the dedication and bravery of the individuals working tirelessly on the ground to protect Zimbabwe’s precious wildlife.

A significant aspect of Green Vision Trust’s work lies in its comprehensive anti-poaching training programs. The Trust provides specialized training to a diverse group, including learners, professional hunters, and tour guides – whom they aptly term “wildlife soldiers.” These trained individuals are then strategically deployed to various conservancies, safari areas, and national parks across Zimbabwe and other key protected areas. Recognizing the need for continuous development, the Trust also offers refresher programs for graduates and holders of hunting licenses and wildlife permits.

Furthermore, Green Vision Trust plays a crucial role in bolstering anti-poaching capabilities by training and equipping dog and handler units, deploying these effective teams to track down poachers. Their support extends to assisting governments in the effective management of protected areas and conducting vital wildlife census activities, providing crucial data for informed conservation strategies. The CADAV award serves as a powerful affirmation of Green Vision Trust’s holistic and impactful contributions to both community empowerment and the urgent cause of wildlife conservation in Zimbabwe.
