FlySaFair launches flights between South Africa & Zimbabwe
On 2 October 2023, FlySaFair, a renowned South African low-cost carrier, launched a daily service between OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg, South
Africa) and Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport (Harare, Zimbabwe). The introduction of this route will enable the airline to expand its network and provide customers more options for travel.
Another flight service was inaugurated the following day (3 October), running three times a week, between Victoria Falls and Johannesburg.
The airline’s ambition to strengthen its presence in southern Africa is reflected in the launch of flights to Zimbabwe. The introduction of more regional routes will make it easier for travellers to explore the African continent, with the added bonus of lower-cost fares.
In early September, the LCC revealed that it had extended their sponsorship of the Springbok Rugby team until 2029. This move was further evidence of the airline’s rising success, which has been driven by its reputation for being “Africa’s most on-time airline” and other developments.
The airline management is pleased to provide customers with additional routes, at affordable prices and with punctual services.
“Tourism in Africa is definitely on the road to recovery. We hope to help play our part in growing the tourism industry both at home and abroad by connecting people through our passion for aviation,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair.
FlySafair has seen an impressive increase in their operations, growing the number of flights they offer by 47% between 2019 and 2022. This is expected to rise even higher as the airline introduces new aircraft, routes, and flight frequencies in 2023. To ensure they maintain their high standards of customer service amid this growth, FlySafair has increased their hiring pool to provide more staff.
FlySaFair is aiming to increase their market share by exploring new customer segments and expanding into southern Africa.
Established in 1965, the airline was previously known as Safair Operations, and is one of the oldest airlines in the region.
Regional and international airlines, such as FlySaFair, have demonstrated a strong faith in Zimbabwe by offering flights to the country. This has opened up the nation to travellers looking
to discover its plentiful wildlife and beautiful landscapes.
The LCC offers budget-friendly fares compared to premium coach services for the Zimbabwe-South Africa route, making flying a more attractive and cost-effective travel option.
