Discovery Wellness Lounge: For Vitality Through Recovery And Rejuvenation
The inspiration behind the creation of Discovery Wellness Lounge at Robert Mugabe International Airport stems from its sister company, Discovery Ambulance Services, a renowned provider of emergency medical services dedicated to delivering top-tier care, had established a strong market presence.
This success encouraged the founders to venture into the wellness industry, establishing a business within the airport’s new International Departures Wing. This extension of their services offers wellness amenities to both premium and non-premium members.
“Our vision aligns with Zimbabwe’s goal of achieving middle-class status by 2030, leaving no place behind.
Offering such services at our airport contributes to this vision,” said Mrs Munowenyu, Founder and CEO.
The lounge aims to create a soothing space fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with international travellers, while promoting overall vitality through recovery and rejuvenation.
What sets Discovery Wellness Lounge apart from other wellness centres in Zimbabwe? “Our luxury wellness lounge offers a wide range of high-quality services, enhancing the travel experience. It provides a conducive environment for work or relaxation before departure. Amenities include massages, intravenous drips, pedicures, and manicures,” explained Munowenyu.
Launched in early July 2024, the lounge offers services like manicures, pedicures, intravenous drips, waxing, massages, and more. Full-body massages and intravenous drips are particularly popular. The company prioritizes using high-quality products meeting first-world standards to ensure the highest quality and efficacy.
Targeting all travellers, the lounge aims to provide a friendly and inclusive environment. Munowenyu believes the wellness industry in Zimbabwe is thriving and poised for significant growth in Southern Africa over the next five years. The influx of tourists and investors due to rapid economic development makes the wellness business a promising venture with immense growth potential.
Future plans involve establishing state-of-the-art wellness lounges in all Zimbabwean airports. Discovery Wellness Lounge utilizes world-renowned luxury brands and dermatologically tested products, benefiting the skin.
Since opening, the lounge has received positive feedback on its aesthetics, setup, and world-class services.
The wellness lounge employs highly skilled and certified professionals, including ambulance technicians, registered nurses, and massage therapists.

As Munowenyu explains, “From personal experience, the idea of a wellness lounge helps one to relax and curb stress and anxiety before a long flight. Intravenous drips, for instance, aid in combating jet lag.”
