ZTA ISSUES ULTIMATUM TO TOURISM OPERATORS: REGISTER OR FACE CLOSURE

THE Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) has called on all tourism-related businesses to register with the Authority by 28 February 2026 or risk closure, as Government moves to enforce compliance while making registration more affordable.

In a press statement, the ZTA said nationwide inspections will commence on 1 March 2026 across all ten provinces, with law enforcement agencies roped in to verify registration status and take action against non-compliant operators.

The registration blitz comes as Government, in its ongoing efforts to improve the ease of doing business, has significantly reduced licence and registration fees across all categories.

The ZTA said the fee reductions are meant to foster a competitive, compliant, and sustainable tourism sector.

In terms of Section 36 of the Tourism Act [Chapter 14:20], all designated tourist facilities are required by law to register with the Authority.

The public has been strongly discouraged from patronising unregistered tourism establishments.

“The public is strongly discouraged from utilising unregistered tourism facilities and is encouraged to report any facility operating without valid registration to the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority,” the ZTA said.

Tourism players yet to regularise their status have been urged to begin the registration process immediately.

“Compliance is not optional. Register, operate legally and protect the integrity of Zimbabwe’s tourism sector!” said ZTA.
