ZINWA OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR TOURISM INVESTMENTS AT DARWENDALE LAKESHORE

The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has officially opened applications for premier lakeshore leasing opportunities at Darwendale Dam.

Situated in the Mashonaland West Province, this initiative is strategically designed to attract local and international investors eager to tap into unique waterfront development projects, allowing them to build world-class tourism, hospitality, and recreational facilities.

Positioned just 75 kilometers from the Harare City Centre and a convenient 35 kilometers from Norton, Darwendale Dam offers a pristine, serene environment characterized by scenic natural beauty and abundant local wildlife. ZINWA has structured a highly accessible and secure framework for land tenure, enabling forward-thinking businesses to establish a permanent presence in a high-potential zone.

Interested developers can secure land allocations under transparent leasing tariffs, which feature a refundable deposit of USD 3,000 per hectare alongside a competitive annual rental fee of USD 5,775 per hectare.

The launch of these leasing options directly aligns with the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry’s current cluster-based development approach, which places a heavy emphasis on holiday, recreation, and heritage-based activities. To streamline execution, ZINWA is encouraging interested operators to circumvent third-party intermediaries and initiate contact directly through their administrative channels.

Ultimately, this initiative is expected to transform the Mashonaland West ecosystem by creating jobs, introducing eco-friendly architectural designs, and significantly expanding the region’s leisure portfolio. By integrating strict water conservation standards with luxury commercial hospitality, the public-private synergies at Darwendale Dam are set to create a sustainable, high-yield investment gateway.

With initial expressions of interest already trickling in from subsector clusters, early movers stand a distinct advantage in securing the most lucrative, hydro-centric real estate parcels available along the beautiful lakefront.
