ZIMBABWE SHINES IN WASHINGTON D.C. AFTER FORBES RECOGNITION
Zimbabwe was placed squarely in the international spotlight in Washington, D.C. this week as the Zimbabwe Tourism Office hosted members of the influential Washington DC Skål chapter at the Embassy of Zimbabwe on October 22, 2025. The vibrant engagement brought together top-tier U.S. Tourism Leaders, including the Founder of Women in Travel & Tourism International, representatives from Airline Pros, prominent Travel Agents, and key Business Operators, in a concerted effort to enhance Zimbabwe’s visibility and strengthen vital partnerships within the lucrative United States market.
The exclusive event, held at the Embassy’s distinguished premises, served as a timely and celebratory platform following the nation’s recent crowning as the Number One Destination in the World for 2025 by Forbes Magazine. Guests were thoroughly captivated by a comprehensive destination presentation, which leveraged this prestigious recognition to showcase Zimbabwe’s natural wonders—from the majestic Victoria Falls to the diverse wildlife havens like Mana Pools and Hwange National Park.
The engagement was designed to be a fully immersive experience. Following the presentation, attendees explored a mini-exhibition showcasing intricate cultural artifacts and were serenaded by captivating mbira and marimba performances, providing a true taste of Zimbabwean heritage. The evening culminated in an authentic Zimbabwean culinary experience, which proved to be a major highlight.
This high-level event successfully fostered direct connections between Zimbabwean tourism authorities and American travel decision-makers. The goal, according to the Embassy, was to position Zimbabwe as a premier, safe, and authentic travel destination for the discerning American traveller. By engaging directly with industry leaders, the Tourism Office aimed to translate global accolades, such as the Forbes ranking, into tangible bookings and increased arrivals.
The event left participants visibly inspired, sparking a renewed interest in crafting tailor-made itineraries for the Southern African nation. For the Zimbabwe Tourism Office, the D.C. Skål engagement marked a significant step forward in paving the way for greater Tourism collaboration and ensuring the country capitalizes on its global momentum as a leading destination for 2025.
