While South Africa has historically courted high-spending travellers from the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany, the 2024 figures demonstrate that the heartbeat of the country’s tourism recovery is decidedly African.

According to Travelandtourworld, Zimbabwe now accounts for nearly 25% of all international arrivals to South Africa, dwarfing the numbers from overseas markets.

With over 270,000 arrivals recorded in January 2025 alone, the momentum shows no signs of slowing.
