THE NEW LOOK NGAHWE CONFERENCE CENTRE AT GOHORI RESORT IN MUTOKO

Gohori Resort, the boutique lodge nestled in the foothills of Mount Gohori in Mutoko, has unveiled the refreshed look of its flagship Ngahwe Conference Centre, further cementing the resort’s ambition to become a leading destination for both corporate events and leisure travel in Mashonaland East.

Situated roughly 150 kilometres from Harare and a short drive from Mutoko’s town centre, Gohori Resort has, since its official commissioning on 24 October 2025, positioned itself as a five-star addition to a rural district more commonly associated with agriculture and mining than luxury hospitality. The resort sits on land under Chief Chapfika and forms part of a wider drive towards rural industrialisation and devolution-led tourism development in the area.

The Ngahwe Conference Room, purposefully designed with a transparent glass facade that provides delegates with a relaxing and inspiring environment amid the surrounding Mutoko natural vegetation and beauty, remains the centrepiece of the resort’s business offering. The venue is equipped with modern audio and surround sound systems and is able to accommodate up to 300 guests in a classroom-style set-up, making it one of the more substantial conference facilities available in the wider Mutoko district.

The conference centre forms part of a broader thirty-room boutique offering at the resort, which spans standard, family and deluxe accommodation, alongside a presidential wing currently in its final phase of construction. Beyond conferencing, guests are able to enjoy fine dining, village tours, guided nature walks and bird watching, all set against the backdrop of Mutoko’s celebrated landscape, home to some 173 named mountains that draw visitors for religious, cultural and historical reasons alike.

Speaking at the resort’s commissioning, owner Bernard Kasekete described the development as ushering in a new era for tourism in Mutoko, noting that the resort was built in direct response to the Government of Zimbabwe’s devolution agenda. He added that the district’s growing business appeal, driven by investment in mining and agriculture, made Gohori Resort a fitting home for visitors to the area.

Gohori Resort’s management has reported strong early interest from both local and international travellers, and the newly refreshed Ngahwe Conference Centre is expected to play a central role in attracting further corporate bookings into the new year.
