NEW CONSERVATION ORGANISATION ABUNDANT VILLAGE COVERS CHIZARIRA NATIONAL PARK

A new specialized organization, Abundant Village, has formally launched its operations in Chizarira National Park. This remote and rugged wilderness, long considered one of Africa’s most critical biodiversity landscapes, is now the focus of a sophisticated partnership aimed at harmonizing the needs of local communities with the protection of wildlife. Under a long-term agreement with the organization Defend, which manages the overall protection of the park, Abundant Village has taken the lead as the specialist partner dedicated to community development and social impact.

The arrival of Abundant Village marks a shift toward a people-centered protection model. The organization operates on the fundamental belief that conservation only truly endures when local communities are empowered as the sovereign custodians of their own natural heritage. By placing these communities at the center of nature protection, the partnership seeks to ensure that the preservation of Chizarira’s unique ecosystems becomes a source of local pride and opportunity rather than a point of pressure or conflict. The mission is to co-create scalable, locally led solutions that restore the natural world while simultaneously providing ownership and dignity to those living on its borders.
