MISS TOURISM ZIMBABWE TAKES NATION’S STORY TO GLOBAL STAGE IN MALAYSIA

Zimbabwe’s cultural and tourism brand received a significant boost this month as Miss Tourism Zimbabwe, Nomghele Sisa Nkomo, departed for Malaysia to represent the nation at the prestigious Miss Tourism International (MTI) Pageant. Her departure from Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport signals a focused effort to leverage the global pageantry platform for national promotion.

Nkomo, who is also the reigning Miss NUST (National University of Science and Technology), is set to compete against contestants from around 40 countries in the pageant, which runs from October 4 to 20, with the grand coronation night scheduled for October 18 at Resorts World Genting.

The pageant is not just about beauty; it’s about being an ambassador of her country. She is going to Malaysia to sell Brand Zimbabwe, to showcase the rich culture and warmth of her people, while selling Zimbabwe as a beautiful destination to the world.

Her platform is deeply rooted in cultural exchange and sustainable tourism. Nkomo plans to share the story of a country where rich traditions and modernity coexist, aiming to inspire visitors with Zimbabwe’s resilience and unique heritage. She is also a strong advocate for climate action, using her voice and creative background in poetry and media to raise awareness about environmental challenges.

The Miss Tourism International pageant is unique in its focus, promoting tourism, cultural diversity, and friendship across nations. Nkomo’s participation is a key strategic move by the tourism sector to secure positive international visibility. She will appear on a platform broadcast globally, putting Zimbabwe back on the travel map, inspiring renewed interest and helping to boost the country’s goal of attracting increased foreign tourist arrivals. The nation eagerly anticipates her performance, viewing her journey as a celebration of youth leadership and the power of culture in national diplomacy.
