MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT APPLAUDS FASTJET’S INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Eng Joy Makumbe officiated at the Fastjet IOSA registration event held at RGMI airport recently. In her address, Eng Makumbe said the IOSA registration acknowledges Fastjet’s commitment to conformity and adherence to the highest operational and safety standards in the aviation industry.

Further, she called for collaboration within the aviation industry for the realisation of Vision 2030. IOSA is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system, which is designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
The IOSA registration comes at a time when the Zimbabwean aviation industry is on an upward trajectory as seen in the number of regional and international airlines servicing the country.
The latest development is expected to inspire confidence in the domestic aviation industry while also helping to build a good image for the country’s air transport system. The move also has potential to inspire other locally established airlines to emulate the feat attained by one of Zimbabwe’s most established private airlines.
Zimbabwe enjoys a clean aviation industry bill as it has not had major disasters in decades, unlike in other global aviation markets. With Fastjet attaining the IOSA certification, hopes are high to maintain or even surpass the high safety reputation already set.
