MEDIA BLITZ PUTS KARIBA IN THE SPOTLIGHT AHEAD OF DOMESTIC TOURISM CAMPAIGN LAUNCH

Recognizing the media’s vital role in shaping the national narrative, the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, in conjunction with the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA), has concluded a successful Media Familiarization Tour in Kariba. The initiative was strategically executed just ahead of tomorrow’s anticipated launch of the Domestic Tourism Festive Season Campaign.

The objective of the tour was to provide journalists with an immersive exposure to Kariba’s breathtaking attractions, showcasing its vast potential as a must-visit destination for both local and international tourists. Directly experiencing the destination has the power to drive the media to effectively fulfil its role in bridging experiences from destinations to the hearts of tourists.

As the host of this year’s Domestic Tourism Festive Season Campaign, Kariba is shining as a symbol of inclusivity and progress. This selection echoes the national vision championed by His Excellency The President Cde. Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, whose policy advocates for “leaving no one and no place behind,” ensuring that tourism development benefits all regions of Zimbabwe.

The journalists were treated to a diverse and thrilling itinerary that captured Kariba in its full splendour. Activities ranged from exhilarating game drives and insightful visits to local crocodile and bream farms, to the intense adrenaline rush of parasailing over the expansive lake.

This familiarization tour serves to reinforce the Ministry’s firm commitment to promoting Domestic Tourism, actively encouraging Zimbabweans to experience, celebrate, and take pride in their rich heritage. Through the provision of first-hand, high-quality content, the government aims to stimulate local travel and spending, supporting jobs within the hospitality sector. The message being sent is clear: Zimbabwe is ready to make waves, inviting everyone to experience it like never before.
