KEFMEG TAKES FULL CONTROL OF GREAT ZIMBABWE HOTEL.

A significant shift in Zimbabwe’s hospitality sector has occurred, with KEFMEG Investments now assuming full control of the iconic Great Zimbabwe Hotel.

This transition follows a finalized agreement with African Sun Limited, which has strategically divested the property.

The move marks a key development in the region’s tourism landscape, with KEFMEG Investments poised to usher in a new era for the historic hotel.

The transfer of ownership, effective from April 1, 2025, concludes a deal that has been closely monitored by industry stakeholders.

African Sun’s decision to relinquish the Great Zimbabwe Hotel is part of a broader strategy to refine its asset portfolio, focusing on core properties and generating capital for further investments.

KEFMEG Investments, controlled by the Mewame Family, has expressed its commitment to maintaining and enhancing the hotel’s reputation as a vital tourism destination, particularly given its proximity to the renowned Great Zimbabwe ruins.

Industry analysts anticipate that KEFMEG’s investment will lead to potential renovations and improved service offerings, aiming to attract both domestic and international tourists.

The transfer of the hotel as a “going concern” means that operations will continue without interruption, ensuring a seamless transition for guests and staff.

This development signals ongoing confidence in Zimbabwe’s tourism potential, with private investors actively contributing to the sector’s growth.
