INTEGRAL KUMUSHA ELEVATES RURAL TOURISM
The international spotlight is shining brightly on the tourism initiatives championed by Her Excellency, First Lady of the Republic of Zimbabwe and Patron of Tourism, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa. A visiting delegation from Lesotho yesterday toured Integral Kumusha in Buhera, a thriving rural tourism hub owned by Mai and Baba Chimuti, to witness firsthand the transformative power of these programs.
Representing the First Lady, Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon. Barbara Rwodzi showcased how Dr. Mnangagwa’s efforts in Agro-Tourism, Gastronomy, Rural Tourism, and Cultural & Heritage Tourism are becoming a model for rural empowerment and authentic destination growth. The delegation was particularly impressed by the “Agric4She” initiative, which empowers rural women by directly linking agricultural production to tourism. This creates vibrant value chains that connect farmers and local communities with tourists eager to experience Zimbabwe’s rich culture and culinary heritage.
The visit culminated in a landmark moment with the signing of a consortium agreement between Integral Kumusha and the Lesotho delegation. This agreement commits both parties to a vital exchange of ideas on agro-tourism and best practices in community-based tourism, paving the way for future regional collaboration.
The Lesotho delegation, led by His Excellency Ambassador T. Maseribane, expressed deep admiration for the First Lady’s tireless work. They were captivated by Zimbabwe’s rural settings, traditional food, and warm hospitality, noting how rural tourism strengthens value chains and empowers communities. Ambassador Maseribane also extended an invitation for Zimbabwean officials and community leaders to visit Lesotho for further collaboration, highlighting a mutual commitment to regional integration.
This significant milestone aligns with His Excellency the President’s vision of transforming Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income economy by leveraging tourism, particularly rural tourism, as a “low-hanging fruit” for sustainable growth and job creation.
