HIGH-LEVEL ROMANIAN BUSINESS DELEGATION ARRIVES IN VICTORIA FALLS
A high-powered delegation of 35 leading business executives from Romania arrived at Victoria Falls International Airport this week. The visit marks a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s ongoing “Open for Business” drive, deepening bilateral ties between Harare and Bucharest.
The delegation, comprising captains of industry from sectors including energy, agriculture, and manufacturing, was met with a vibrant reception led by the Deputy Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Hon. Tongai Mnangagwa. The warm “Meet and Greet” at the airport terminal showcased Zimbabwe’s world-renowned hospitality, setting a positive tone for what is expected to be a high-impact diplomatic and economic mission.
Leading the Romanian group is Mr. Sorin Vornic, Vice President of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. His presence underscores the serious nature of the mission, which aims to scout for tangible investment opportunities and establish long-term trade partnerships. This visit follows a recent trend of increased European interest in the Southern African nation, as Zimbabwe continues to position itself as a strategic gateway for international trade.
During their stay, the executives are scheduled to tour the iconic Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Beyond the leisure aspect, the visit is strategically designed to allow the delegation to engage directly with local business leaders and government officials. These interactions are expected to focus on key areas such as infrastructure development, sustainable tourism, and technological exchange.
“Zimbabwe is a land of vast, untapped potential,” noted Hon. Tongai Mnangagwa during the reception. “The arrival of our friends from Romania is a testament to the fact that the world is noticing our reforms and our readiness to partner on a global scale. Victoria Falls is not just a tourism hub; it is the face of a new, investor-friendly Zimbabwe.”
The mission serves as a critical platform for the Romania-Zimbabwe Business Forum, where discussions will centre on leveraging Zimbabwe’s rich natural resources and the Victoria Falls Stock Exchange’s (VFEX) favourable investment climate. As the delegation experiences the “Smoke That Thunders,” the underlying message remains clear: Zimbabwe is moving beyond traditional diplomacy to foster robust, result-oriented economic partnerships that promise shared prosperity for both nations.
