GREENING SOUTHERN AFRICA WITH GREENLINE AFRICA
Greenline Africa, a dedicated community-based organization, is making significant strides in promoting sustainability and improving the lives of vulnerable women, youth, and children in and around Victoria Falls and Livingstone. Operating with a clear vision of “A better life for marginalized women, children and youth in Africa,” the organization is actively engaged in developing and supporting sustainable projects across essential sectors: livelihoods, health, education, and biodiversity management.
Greenline Africa’s strength lies not only in its grassroots approach but also in the wealth of experience brought by its dedicated team of Trustees.
The organization is steered by three highly respected individuals with deep roots in Southern Africa and extensive experience in conservation and community development.
Veronica Chapman, born and educated in Harare, Zimbabwe, brings a diverse background to her role as Trustee. Her experience spans heading a successful management recruitment consultancy in South Africa, editing the conservation and community focused magazine Greenline, and serving as the Green Tourism Representative for Southern Africa. Currently, she is working with Africa Conservation Travel (ACT), leveraging her insights to promote sustainable tourism.
Namo Chuma, originally from Hwange District, is a Trustee with a profound passion for the environment and local communities. He began his career as a teacher before joining Environment Africa (EA), where he successfully established and managed the Victoria Falls office. Namo is currently the Zambia Country Director for EA, contributing significant expertise in development work, particularly with children and youth, to Greenline Africa’s efforts.
Charlene Hewat, another proud Zimbabwean, is a highly respected conservationist and the Founder and former CEO of Environment Africa. With an MSc in Development Management and 30 years of experience, Charlene is a champion of sustainable development initiatives. Now based in Victoria Falls, she volunteers her time and knowledge to assist Greenline Africa regularly.
Located at 5613 Mkhosana, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, Greenline Africa’s mission is to work closely with marginalized and vulnerable communities. The organization’s strategic focus areas—livelihoods, health, education, and biodiversity management—ensure a holistic approach to upliftment. By developing, implementing, and supporting these sustainable projects, Greenline Africa is not just providing aid but empowering communities to build a more resilient and prosperous future. The collective knowledge and dedication of the Trustees are instrumental in driving the organization’s efforts to truly green Southern Africa, one community project at a time.
