“EXPERIENCE ZIMBABWE” DREW GLOBAL TOURISM SPOTLIGHT IN JAPAN
Zimbabwe recently captivated the global tourism spotlight during its vibrant National Day celebration at Expo 2025 Osaka. The prestigious event was graced by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, who addressed an eager international audience, extending a heartfelt invitation to the world to discover Zimbabwe’s unmatched tourism offerings.
The President highlighted the nation’s breathtaking natural landscapes, its rich and vibrant culture, and its remarkable biodiversity. He emphasized that since the Expo’s opening in April 2025, visitors to the Zimbabwe Pavilion have already had a tangible opportunity to immerse themselves in the inherent beauty and renowned hospitality of Zimbabwe, connecting intimately with its profound tourism heritage. A particular highlight, resonating deeply with attendees, was the mighty Victoria Falls, locally revered as Mosi-oa-Tunya – “The Smoke that Thunders” – a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the world’s cherished Seven Natural Wonders.
President Mnangagwa proudly underscored Zimbabwe’s firmly established position as a leading Nature and Wildlife destination, boasting one of the highest concentrations of game in the entire region. He shared compelling statistics, noting that an impressive 70% of Zimbabwe’s landmass is reserved for National Parks and dedicated safari areas, ensuring safe, authentic, and immersive wildlife experiences for all visitors. Within these well-protected ecosystems, Zimbabwe is a thriving sanctuary for the iconic Big Five, alongside an astonishing diversity of over 270 species of mammals and 670 species of birds.
Applauding the curated and engaging displays, as well as the vibrant cultural showcases at the Zimbabwe Pavilion, His Excellency expressed profound confidence that this strategic platform would significantly boost tourist arrivals. He specifically highlighted Japan as a key and rapidly growing source market for Zimbabwean tourism. The President concluded his address by reaffirming Zimbabwe’s commitment to sustainable tourism practices, warmly inviting travellers from every corner of the globe to “Experience Zimbabwe,” a land abundant with wonders and an authentic African charm that leaves a lasting impression.
